Terms of Service
The short version. You must be 18 or older. You own what you write — we only get the licence we need to host it and show it to readers. Spark credits are a limited licence to use AI features, not money. Subscriptions and top-ups are non-refundable except where the law or the app stores say otherwise; cancelling a plan keeps it running until the period you paid for ends, and if a purchase is refunded we take back the credits it granted — never more than your balance. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription — cancel that in the app store. Don't post illegal or sexually explicit material. We can suspend accounts that break these rules; you can leave whenever you like.
This summary is for orientation. The numbered sections below are the agreement.
1. Accepting these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Rajeev Chourey, an individual sole operator based in India, trading as Manyfold ("Manyfold", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the Manyfold mobile app, the website at manyfold.co.in, and everything we offer through them (the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy and Content Policy, which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use Manyfold. There is no younger tier and no parental-consent path.
Manyfold hosts mature interactive fiction, which may include graphic violence, dark themes, and strong language. We verify age with a date-of-birth check at sign-up. Providing a false date of birth is a breach of these Terms and grounds for immediate termination. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its data.
You also confirm that you are not barred from using the Service under the laws of your country, and that you are not subject to sanctions that would prohibit us from providing it.
3. Your account
- Give us accurate information, and keep it current.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password secret; tell us at once if you suspect unauthorised access.
- One person, one account. Do not share, sell, or transfer your account.
- Your handle is yours while your account is active. We may reclaim handles that impersonate someone, infringe a trademark, or are used to mislead.
- You may close your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. See our deletion page for exactly what that removes.
4. Licence to use Manyfold
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service and to install the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial enjoyment and creative work — subject to these Terms.
You must not: reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable where you live; scrape or bulk-download content; use bots or automated clients against our API without written permission; circumvent rate limits, credit metering, or access controls; resell or sublicense access; or use the Service to build a competing product.
5. Your content and who owns it
You keep ownership of everything you create on Manyfold — your stories, characters, artwork, and prose. We claim no ownership in it. Ever.
To run the Service, we need permission to handle your content. You grant Manyfold a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for technical formatting, publish, and display your content, and to transmit it to the AI providers described in section 6, solely for the purpose of operating, securing, and improving the Service.
Two things this licence expressly does not allow us to do:
- We may not train AI models on your content, and we do not sell or license it as training data to anyone else.
- We may not use your content for advertising or marketing without asking you first and getting your agreement.
The licence ends when you delete the content or your account — except that (a) it continues for stories you have published and characters you have donated, which remain available to the community in anonymized form as explained in our Privacy Policy, and (b) it continues for copies other users have lawfully forked before deletion. Publishing a story is a considered act; treat it as such.
You warrant that you own or have the rights to everything you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
6. AI-generated content
Spark, our AI co-writer, runs on third-party AI models reached through OpenRouter. When you use Spark, your story material is sent there for processing, and its handling is governed by OpenRouter's Terms and Privacy Policy. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what is sent — notably, your identity is not.
You should understand the following before relying on Spark:
- Output is not guaranteed to be original. AI models can produce text or images resembling existing works. You are responsible for reviewing what you publish.
- Output may be wrong, offensive, or nonsensical. It is a drafting tool, not an authority on anything.
- The same prompt may produce different results for different people, or for you on a different day.
- Copyright in AI output is legally unsettled in many countries, including India and the United States. Purely machine-generated material may not be protectable at all. We make no representation about what rights you hold in Spark's raw output. As between you and us, we claim nothing.
- You are responsible for what you publish, whether you wrote it or Spark drafted it. Publishing it makes it yours.
- Your use of Spark is also subject to Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy. Prompts that try to elicit prohibited content may be refused by the model or blocked by us.
7. Forking and remixing
Publishing a story to Manyfold means other users may fork it — copy the published version into their own draft and take it in a new direction. This is a core feature, not an accident.
- By publishing, you grant every other user a non-exclusive licence to fork your published story on Manyfold and create derivative stories from it, on the Service.
- Forks carry automatic attribution to the source story and its author.
- Where a fork requires your approval to publish, that approval is yours to give or withhold.
- Deleting or unpublishing your story does not retroactively revoke forks already lawfully made.
- The forker owns what they add. They do not acquire ownership of what you wrote.
Characters you donate to the community may be adopted and reused by other creators on the Service on the same basis, and donation cannot be reversed.
8. Acceptable use
Our Content Policy sets out in detail what may and may not be posted, and is part of these Terms. In summary, you must not use Manyfold to:
- Post content that sexualises minors in any way, real or fictional. This results in an immediate permanent ban and, where applicable, a report to law enforcement.
- Post sexually explicit or pornographic material.
- Threaten, harass, defame, or incite violence against anyone.
- Post hate speech targeting people by protected characteristic.
- Post content that is unlawful where you or your readers are.
- Infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights.
- Impersonate a real person or organisation.
- Post malware, spam, or deceptive commercial content.
- Attack, probe, or overload our infrastructure, or attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours.
- Present AI-generated fiction as factual reporting about real, identifiable people or events.
Report violations in-app or at support@manyfold.co.in.
9. Spark credits
AI generation costs us real money per request, so Spark features are metered in Spark credits.
Credits are a limited licence to use AI features. They are not money, not currency, not a stored-value instrument, and not property. They have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for cash, and cannot be transferred, sold, or gifted between accounts.
- New accounts receive a starter allocation of credits.
- Credits are consumed when an AI generation succeeds. If a generation fails through our fault, the credits are not charged, or are returned to your balance.
- We publish the credit cost of each action in the app before you commit to it.
- We may adjust credit costs as underlying AI pricing changes. We will give reasonable notice in the app before increasing the cost of an existing feature.
- Credits come from two pools. Plan credits are granted at the start of each billing period and are only for that period. Top-up credits, bought as a one-off pack, do not expire while your account is active and in good standing.
- Spending draws on your plan credits first, so a top-up you paid for is not consumed while you still have plan credits for the month.
- Unused credits are not refundable in either pool. On deletion or termination the balance stops being usable — but see section 10 for what can be restored if you come back.
Credits are sold only through the app stores. Purchases in the Android app go through Google Play Billing, and in the iOS app through Apple's In-App Purchase. We do not sell digital goods outside those systems on mobile. Section 10 governs every purchase.
10. Purchases, renewals and refunds
Manyfold sells two things: subscription plans, which grant a monthly allowance of Spark credits, and top-up packs, which are a one-off purchase of credits that do not expire.
How payment works
- Purchases in the Android app are processed by Google through Google Play Billing; purchases in the iOS app are processed by Apple. Your payment relationship for those transactions is with them, under their terms. We never see your card details.
- Prices are shown before you confirm, in your local currency and inclusive of applicable taxes where the store displays them. Manyfold's current launch is priced in Indian rupees.
- We may change plan prices. An increase never applies to a period you have already paid for, and the store notifies you before it takes effect on a renewal.
- Some payment methods settle later than others. If you pay by a method the store marks as pending — a UPI mandate, or cash — nothing is delivered until the store confirms the payment. Your credits or plan arrive automatically at that point; you do not need to buy again. If the payment never completes, nothing is charged and nothing is granted.
Changing plans
- Upgrading takes effect immediately. Your new plan's features and its full monthly credit allowance are available as soon as the store confirms the change. The store converts the unused part of what you already paid into time on the new plan, which usually moves your renewal date forward.
- Upgrading does not refund the plan you were on, and credits already spent that period are not restored. The new allowance replaces the old one rather than adding to it.
- Downgrading takes effect at your next renewal. You keep the higher plan, and its allowance, for the period you have already paid for. We do not demote you mid-period.
- Switching between a monthly and a yearly version of the same plan follows the same rules.
If a payment fails
- When a renewal payment fails, the store puts your subscription on hold and retries it. While it is on hold your plan features and plan credits are unavailable.
- They are held, not destroyed. If the payment goes through and your subscription recovers, the plan credits you had left are restored to you. Credits from top-up packs are never affected by any of this.
- If the subscription is never recovered it expires, and unused plan credits are forfeited at that point.
Renewal and cancellation
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from your Google Play or Apple account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you are in. Your plan stays active, and its credits stay usable, until the period you have already paid for runs out. After that you drop to the free tier.
- Cancelling mid-period does not produce a refund or a pro-rata credit for the remaining days, because you keep the full period you paid for.
- Yearly plans work the same way: cancellation takes effect at the end of the year you have paid for.
Refunds
Subscriptions and top-up packs are not refundable by us. Credits are digital goods delivered immediately on purchase, and a plan gives you access from the moment it starts. This does not affect refunds required by law, or refunds the app store chooses to grant under its own policy.
- Refunds are handled by the store, not by us. On Android, use Google Play order history or Google Play's refund request form. On iOS, use reportaproblem.apple.com. The store's own refund window and rules apply, and they can override this section.
- If a store declines and you believe the charge was genuinely wrong — you were billed twice, or a purchase never delivered — write to support@manyfold.co.in and we will look at it. A failed delivery is a bug, not a refund question: tell us and we will grant what you paid for.
- A refund reverses what it paid for. When a purchase is refunded or charged back, we remove the credits that purchase granted, and a refunded subscription ends. If you have already spent some of them your balance simply goes to zero — we never take your balance below zero and never ask you to pay anything back. Credits from a different, unrefunded purchase are left alone.
- Statutory rights are preserved. If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK you may have a 14-day right of withdrawal; by starting to use a plan or spending credits immediately you consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge you lose that right for what has been delivered. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Indian Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or equivalent consumer law where you live.
- Repeated refund abuse may result in loss of access to paid features.
If you delete your account
Deleting your Manyfold account does not cancel your subscription and does not refund anything. A subscription is a contract with the app store, so it keeps renewing and keeps charging you until you cancel it in Google Play or Apple. Cancel it there before you delete your account, or you will keep paying for a plan no account is using.
We keep the record of what you bought — see Privacy Policy §10. If you sign up again later and restore your purchases from the same app-store account you bought them on, we can reattach:
- A subscription that is still within a paid, unexpired period at the moment you return. An expired or cancelled-and-lapsed subscription cannot be restored — there is nothing left to restore.
- Top-up credits you had not spent when you deleted the account. These never expire, so they wait for you.
What does not come back: plan credits from periods that have already ended, any credits you had already spent, and your stories, profile and history — deletion of those is permanent and immediate. Restoring purchases restores entitlements, not content.
Restoration depends on the store telling us the purchase belongs to you. If you buy on one app-store account and later sign in with a different one, we have no way to connect them and cannot restore anything.
11. Service availability and changes
We provide the Service on an ongoing but not guaranteed basis. We may add, change, or remove features, and may suspend the Service for maintenance. We aim to give notice of significant changes.
If we discontinue Manyfold entirely, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your stories before shutting down.
AI features depend on third-party providers. If a provider changes its terms, pricing, or availability, Spark's behaviour or cost may change accordingly.
12. Our intellectual property
The Manyfold name, logo, app, website, design, and underlying software are owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you no rights in them beyond the licence in section 4. Do not use our branding in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without written permission.
Feedback you send us is welcome and may be used freely without obligation or compensation. Sending feedback gives us no rights in your stories.
13. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Manyfold infringes your copyright, email support@manyfold.co.in with: identification of the work, the exact location of the infringing content on Manyfold, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is unauthorised, a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights-holder or authorised to act for them, and your signature.
We remove infringing content promptly and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, send a counter-notice to the same address.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time, for any reason, from within the app.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms or the Content Policy, if we are required to by law, or if your use creates genuine risk or legal exposure for us or other users. Except where a delay would cause harm or the breach is severe — in particular, any breach involving child sexual abuse material — we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
Terminating your account does not entitle you to a refund of unused credits or of an unexpired subscription period, and does not cancel a subscription you hold with an app store — cancel that in the store. Sections 5, 6, 12, and 15 through 21 survive termination.
15. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
We do not endorse, and are not responsible for, content posted by users. Interactive fiction on Manyfold is fiction. It is not advice of any kind, and any resemblance to real people or events is the author's responsibility, not ours.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Manyfold is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) ₹5,000 (five thousand Indian rupees).
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
17. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Manyfold and its operator from claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from content you post, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of anyone's rights. We will notify you of any such claim and you may control the defence, provided you do not settle in a way that imposes obligations on us without our agreement.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of your right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
Before filing anything, please write to support@manyfold.co.in. Most disputes are a misunderstanding, and we would rather fix it than litigate it.
19. App store terms
If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store, the following applies: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. Apple is not responsible for any product warranty, product claims, third-party intellectual property claims, or consumer protection claims relating to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and are not on any U.S. Government restricted-parties list.
If you obtained the app from Google Play, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect, and update the version and date at the top. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new Terms; if you do not, delete your account before they take effect.
21. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Content Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- Severability. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a right once does not waive it.

- No agency. These Terms create no partnership, employment, or agency relationship.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for failure caused by events beyond reasonable control.
- Language. The English version of these Terms governs.
