Delete your account
Open the app → Profile → Settings → Delete account. It happens immediately, you don't need to email anyone, and you don't need our permission. Export your data first if you want to keep a copy.
How to delete your account
- Open the Manyfold app and make sure you are signed in.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to Delete account.
- Read what will be removed, then type your handle to confirm.
- Confirm. You are signed out immediately and your data is erased.
Want a copy first? In the same Settings screen, tap Legal & Privacy → Export my data. You get a JSON file containing your profile, stories, characters, reading history, and credit ledger. Do this before deleting — we cannot recover anything afterwards.
If you can't sign in
Email privacy@manyfold.co.in from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We verify ownership of the address, then delete within 30 days — usually far sooner. This route exists as a fallback; the in-app flow is immediate and does not involve us.
What is permanently erased
All of the following is deleted outright and cannot be recovered:
- Your account record, email address, password hash, and date of birth
- Your linked Google account, if you used Google Sign-In
- Your avatar image and any other media you uploaded
- Unpublished drafts — stories you never published
- Your entire reading history, including every choice you made in every story
- Your Spark credit balance and full credit ledger
- Your AI generation job history
- Follows, follow requests, reactions, and bookmarks
- Push notification device tokens — notifications stop at once
- All notifications addressed to you
- Blocks you created and reports you filed
- Every active sign-in session on every device
- Any waitlist entry matching your email address
What stays, anonymized
Two things remain online, permanently detached from you:
- Stories you published. They stay readable but are reassigned to a tombstone author shown as
@deleted. - Characters you donated to the community, on the same basis.
Your handle, display name, avatar, and account no longer attach to them in any way. Once anonymized, that content is no longer personal data about you.
Why we don't just delete published work. Other people bookmark your published stories, fork them into their own writing, and may be part-way through reading them. Deleting outright would break their libraries and orphan stories that credit yours as a source.
If you want a published story gone entirely, delete that story first, then delete your account. Story deletion is available from your library. Do it in that order and nothing of yours remains.
How long it takes
| Stage | When |
|---|---|
| Signed out everywhere; account unusable | Immediately |
| Database records erased | Immediately |
Published stories reassigned to @deleted | Immediately |
| Removal from search results and feeds | Within a few minutes |
| Uploaded media removed from storage | Within 24 hours |
| Cached copies expire from the content delivery network | Within 24 hours |
| Rolling infrastructure backups purged | Within 35 days |
This cannot be undone
There is no grace period, no recycle bin, and no restore. The moment you confirm, your data is gone. We cannot bring it back, even if you ask us the same day.
Your handle is released and someone else may claim it. Your credit balance stops being usable and is not refunded. Signing up again later creates a genuinely new, empty account — none of your stories, followers or history come back.
Two things deletion does not do
It does not cancel your subscription. A subscription is held by Google Play or Apple, not by us, so it keeps renewing and keeps charging you after your Manyfold account is gone. Cancel it in the store first — Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions — then delete your account.
It does not erase your purchase records. We keep the app store's identifiers for what you bought — the purchase token, order id, product and date. They carry no name, email or handle. We keep them because they are an accounting record, and because they are the only way a purchase can ever be restored.
If you sign up again from the same app-store account and restore your purchases, we can reattach a subscription that is still inside a paid period, and any top-up credits you had not spent — top-up credits do not expire. Nothing else returns: not your stories, not your profile, not plan credits from a period that has ended.
If you want the purchase records erased too, accepting that any remaining entitlement is then gone for good, email privacy@manyfold.co.in and we will erase everything we are not legally required to keep.
If you don't want to delete everything
Deleting the whole account is often more than people actually need:
- Want to disappear but keep your work? Turn on Private profile in Settings. Your profile and follower lists stop being public.
- Want a single story gone? Delete it from your library. That is immediate and permanent, and does not touch your account.
- Want the notifications to stop? Turn them off in your device settings, or sign out.
- Want a break? Just sign out. Nothing is deleted and your account waits for you.
